AUA2021 - Attendee Information - CME Information

As part of the AUA2021 Annual Meeting, registrants have the option of participating in pre-meeting accredited continuing education activities offered as part of the May Kick-Off Weekend and AUA Summer School. Activities offered as a part of the AUA2021 and pre-meeting programs will be available as live virtual activities, and/or on-demand activities. Learners will have the opportunity to complete the on-demand activities through December 31, 2021.

Accreditation Statement
The American Urological Association (AUA)is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Learning Objectives

Method of Participation
Learners will participate by logging into the live virtual or on-demand (enduring) activities beginning May 21, 2021 through December 31, 2021. After participating in an activity, learners will complete the post-activity evaluation and credit attestation.

Credit Designation*
The American Urological Association designates these other activities (live virtual activities and enduring materials) for a maximum of 34.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. (*Note, the maximum credits is subject to change if sessions are added or canceled prior to the activity start date.)

Other Learners
The AUA is not accredited to offer credit to participants who are not MDs or DOs. However, the AUA will issue documentation of participation that states that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

AUA Disclosure Policy
All persons in a position to control the content of an educational activity (i.e., activity planners, presenters, authors, reviewers) are required to disclose to the provider any relevant financial relationships with any commercial interest. The AUA must determine if the individual’s relationships may influence the educational content and resolve any conflicts of interest prior to the commencement of the educational activity. The intent of this disclosure is not to prevent individuals with relevant financial relationships from participating, but rather to provide learners with information so they can make their own judgments. Mitigation of Identified Conflict of Interest
All disclosures will be reviewed by the Conflict of Interest (COI) Review Work Group for identification of conflicts of interest. The AUA COI Review Work Group, working with the program directors and/or editors, will document the mechanism(s) for management and mitigation of the conflict of interest and final approval of the activity will be documented prior to implementation. Any of the mechanisms below can/will be used to mitigate conflict of interest:

  • Peer review for valid, evidence-based content of all materials associated with an educational activity by the course/program director, editor, and/or Education COI Review Work Group.
  • Limit content to evidence with no recommendations.
  • Introduction of a debate format with an unbiased moderator (point-counterpoint).
  • Inclusion of moderated panel discussion.
  • Publication of a parallel or rebuttal article for an article that is felt to be biased.
  • Limit equipment representatives to providing logistics and operation support only in procedural demonstrations.
  • Divestiture of the relationship by faculty.

Off-Label or Unapproved Use of Drugs or Devices

Urologists need a thorough knowledge of the most recent developments and techniques, as well as established guidelines in urology, to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.

At the conclusion of the 2021 Annual Meeting, participants will be able to:

  • Describe recent developments in the medical and surgical management of urology patients.
  • Identify new technologies for the treatment of urologic conditions.
  • Integrate the latest guidelines on the management of urological diseases into their practice.
  • Incorporate evidence-based research and literature into the shared decision making process.

Method of Participation
Learners will participate by logging into the live virtual session(s) or logging into the on-demand (enduring) activity(ies) beginning September 9, 2021 through December 31, 2021. After completion selected sessions/activities, learners will complete the credit claim attestation and activity evaluation.

The American Urological Association designates this other activity (live virtual activities and enduring materials) for a maximum of 468 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. European Accreditation
UEMS-EACCME® and the AMA have an agreement of mutual recognition of CME credits between Europe and the USA whereby European physicians attending an event in the USA have their credits recognized in Europe and American physicians attending an event in Europe have their credits recognized in the USA.
